Epidural for Back Pain
What is a Spinal Epidural?
If you have chronic back pain that you've had for more than three months injections can be used to deliver a combination of local aesthetic and steroids into or near your spine to help ease chronic back pain.
Possible Side Effects and After-care
The procedure takes between 20-40 minutes. The procedure is usually done using local aesthetic around the area in which the needle will be inserted. Normally following this procedure, you can go home as long as you meet the requirements and your blood pressure is monitored correctly.
It is best to take things easy for the first 24 hours; the pain should start to improve after a few days as the steroids take a few days to work.
