Background Information
Mr Fernandes graduated from St George’s University of London in 2008. He completed his Core Surgical Training in the Kent, Surrey and Sussex region before embarking on Higher Surgical Training in the Wessex Deanery.
Mr Fernandes joined East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust in 2018 as a substantive Upper Gastrointestinal Consultant Surgeon.
He holds a strong interest in Training and Leadership and is currently the Training Programme Director for Higher Surgical Trainees in the Kent region and was previously the Foundation Doctor Lead for the Trust.
Mr Fernandes is also the Endoscopy Surgical Training Lead and has brought novel techniques to the Trust such as the Flamingo device to remove buried bumpers and the Endoscopic Ovesco clip for closure of fistulae.
Mr Fernandes has published a book helping Junior Doctors prepare for their exit exams and has over 30 PubMed citeable research papers published.
