Full Time: 37.5 hours per week

We offer enhancements for Saturdays and any work between 8pm and 7.30am on weekdays at time +30% of your basic salary rate. For Sundays and Bank Holidays at time + 60% of your basic salary rate.      

Experience and Qualifications 

  • RSCN/RN (Child)
  • Up to date NMC Registration
  • Proven post registration experience
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Good organisational skills
  • IV Medication Administration
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, families and colleagues
  • Ability to make informed decisions
  • Caring and compassionate
  • Able to cope under pressure, flexible and adaptable to change

As a registered paediatric nurse, you will be working alongside experienced Band 5 paediatric nurses and an HCA, caring for children aged 3-18, admitted for day surgery.   You will also be involved with the pre-assessment process, calling families to prepare children for surgery.  Procedures are carried out at weekends, mainly at our Ashford site.  Shifts can be flexible to suit the team and we work either Early (07.00 – 13.00 hrs), Late (12.00 – 20.00hrs) or Long Day (07.00 – 20.00hrs).


Although the main part of the role is centered around inpatient care, there will be opportunity to support children attending clinics in the OPD dept for consultations across the specialties including:  maxillo-facial, ENT, gynaecology, orthopaedics, urology and of course paediatrics.


We are the main provider of private paediatric surgery in SE Kent, and are now pleased to be directly supporting the NHS paediatric service by working alongside them.  By expanding our service to Canterbury, we can help more children receive the surgery they need, at the time they need it and in the right environment.
